Running outside in cold weather can be invigorating, but it comes with some unique challenges. At Trailblaze PT & Performance in Hendersonville, NC, we love helping runners stay active and safe, no matter the season.

Cold temperatures can make your muscles tighter and more prone to injury, so a proper warm-up is key. Try this:

  • Dynamic Warm-Up: Do 5–10 minutes of high knees, butt kicks, leg swings, and arm circles to get your blood flowing.

Dress in layers to stay warm. Choose moisture-wicking fabrics close to your skin, add insulating layers, and top it off with a windproof jacket. Reflective gear is a must for low-light conditions, and don’t forget gloves and a hat!

After your run, don’t skip your cool-down:

  • Walk for 5 minutes to lower your heart rate gradually.
  • Stretch your calves, hamstrings, and quads to reduce stiffness.

Running in the cold can feel amazing if you prepare properly. At Trailblaze PT & Performance in Hendersonville, NC, we’re here to help with any aches or injuries so you can keep enjoying the great outdoors.
